Yorkshire Premier League North Division One West

Dringhouses I 163-8, Selby I 164-0

There was an early start at Sandhill Lane on Saturday because of the football and Selby first team picked up another win with openers Matt Hoyle and Alex Bowden again in top form.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first and they lost an early wicket when Luke Berzins trapped Sam Dixon leg before. Jamie Middleton kept things very tight at the other end and he dismissed Affan Khalid to reduce the York side to 23-2. Darren Avey and skipper Danny Snaith both dug in and held up the Selby attack as Middleton conceded just ten runs from his ten accurate overs. A third wicket partnership of 72 was eventually ended by Lee Wild who joined the attack to dismiss Avey (30). Wild then had Snaith (41) caught behind by Darrell Guy as the home side began to get on top. Paul Milner batted well for his unbeaten 41 but wickets fell at the other end with Wild finishing with 5-39 as Dringhouses were restricted to 163-8 at the close.

Selby openers Matt Hoyle and Alex Bowden once again made a rapid start despite a couple of short breaks due to rain showers and they registered a fifty partnership in only the sixth over. The Dringhouses bowlers and fielders worked hard but the quick run rate continued as the century partnership arrived in the 13th over. The home side raced to victory in the 19th over with Hoyle unbeaten on 82, which included 14 boundaries and Bowden fired 12 fours and 2 sixes in his 74*. Yorkshire Premier League North Division Three West

Saxton I 293-9, Selby II 149

In Division Three Selby second team had a tough afternoon at title chasing Saxton I as they went down to a 144 run defeat after being set a massive total to chase.

Batting first the home side did lose a wicket with only 21 runs on the board when Nathan Dye had Dan Appleby caught by Mike Lane but the innings was then dominated by opener Freddie Moore. Andrew Raison (31) and Moore added 86 for the second wicket as the runs began to flow and there was more support for Moore from Indukuri (25) and Potter (55) to put Saxton in a commanding position. Dye eventually had Moore caught behind by Gareth Harvey for 121 as the home side closed on a huge 293-9 with Dye finishing with the impressive figures of 6-37 from his eight overs.

Chasing the big total Selby lost early wickets with Matthew Hutton (4-27) doing the damage although Zac Buttle did hit a quick 28. Wickets for Dan Appleby (3-20) and Pankaj Sharma (3-19) saw the visitors slip to 92-7 but there was some late resistance from Nathan Dye (35) and George Wells (28*) and they lifted Selby to 149 all out. York Vale League Division One

Heworth III 159, Selby III 162-6

Selby third team returned to action on Sunday and they picked up a fairly comfortable four wicket win at Heworth which lifts them back to the top of the table.

Selby skipper Steve Sherwood won the toss and asked the York side to bat first and despite a solid knock from opener Alex Stone, wickets fell at regular intervals with good spells from Caspar Gray (2-31) and George Wells (2-31). Neil Darley (3-45) joined the attack to trap Stone (41) leg before to keep the visitors just on top but late runs from Jamie Ross (15) and Ollie Mair (20) lifted Heworth to 159 all out in the 38th over.

In reply Selby made a solid start with useful knocks from openers Isaac Leung (14) and Tom Sherwood (18). Wickets for Jamie Ross (2-49) and Andrew Sawdon saw the visitors slip to 58-3 but Neil Darley and Steve Sherwood got the innings back on track with a fourth wicket partnership of 46. Jamie Ross made the breakthrough when he had Darley caught for 34 and a couple of quick wickets reduced Selby to 125-6. Mark Hope (26*) joined Sherwood and the experienced pair steered Selby home in the 31st over with Sherwood finishing unbeaten on 42.
